The idea of the session is to work towards possession with a purpose which includes understanding how to exploit space. So players begin by learing dribbling decisions then passing decisions MORE
Dribble forward with the ball towards the opposition goal (U7 game)
Dribble forward with the ball towards the opposition goal
“Touch the ball three times” • “Keep the ball close in front of you”
Set up a 12 yard square area with a halfway line and a goal at one end. Split players into three groups of three. Number the players 1, 2 and 3 in each group.
In their groups, players start in one half of the area passing the ball to each other. As they play, they are listening out for the coach to call a number that they must react to. Make sure the players are passing the ball around.
When you call their number, the players dribble the ball into the other half of the area.
Once in the other half, players must get into the shooting position and get a shot on target.
How many players do I need?
Players work in groups of three, I used three teams of three players.
Players should know which way they are dribbling.
Make sure they understand what they have to do.
Look for dribbling and shooting.
