BALL CONTROL 3
Dribble the ball and turn with it
“Keep your eyes on the ball” • “Look up to see where the cone is” • “Look up often as you dribble” • “Keep control as you turn”
Mark out an area of 10 x 10 yards with a 4 x 4 yards square in the middle. Start with 10 players spread out around the large square, two of them have balls.
Play begins with the two players with balls dribbling into the middle square.
Inside the middle square, players must change direction and dribble the ball away from the centre – when paths cross players must be aware of each other and try not to impede them.
The ball must be dribbled to a team mate on the side who takes over dribbling the ball.
Players must watch the ball but look up often to see where they are going and to avoid collisions.
We used 10 players in this session.
Good dribbling technique.
Avoid other players.
Swift changes of direction.
