Making a slide tackle and a block tackle
TACKLE IN A 3V3
“Head over the ball” • “Bend your knees” • “Lock your ankle”
Set up a 15 x 10 yards area with a goal at each end.
Play a 3v3 without goalkeepers – the game is played as normal but give extra points for any tackles made.
With no goalkeepers, teams will have to tackle each other to stop shots and to win the ball back. They must use pressing and jockeying techniques as well as tackling to stop the opposition scoring.
In the 3v3, players can create space by spreading out and moving the ball quickly to get behind the opposition defence and force them to make a tackle.
Remind the players of the technique they learned when practising the block tackle.
How many players do I need?
This game uses six players.
Head down over the ball, knees bent.
Firm standing leg.
The knee and ankle locked so the leg is strong.
