The keys to your match day strategy

Premier League winning manager with Manchester City Pep Guardiola created one of the greatest sides the world has ever seen when he was manager of Barcelona in Spain.

He played a 4-3-3 formation as his favourite during his time at the Camp Nou, though the 3-5-2, 3-4-3 formations among others were also used. Between 2009-2012, Barca dominated almost every opposition with and without the ball. Guardiola prioritized having possession of the ball and movement into space to receive the ball.

Formations are a key part of match day strategy right through the different formation structure of age groups. So how do you work out which formation will suit your team? Try this game to play Pep’s favourite formations against each other and my favourite formation at 9v9 to create a framework for your teams passing skills.

Creating a framework means your teams have to be good at passing and receiving so get them working hard on the training ground with these sessions designed to give you a team that can work in the formation you have chosen
