Help your midfielders and forwards learn to beat the offside trap and stay onside. By MIKE VINCENT MORE
Get on the front foot – Practice
WHY USE IT
The session encourages players to penetrate or “go forward”, as the players in possession look to invade the opposition. There are opportunities to utilise different tools, dribbling, combinations and awareness to outwit opponents.
Set up a playing area relative to the age and ability of your players. Place a cone/flat marker in the middle of the area and sets of two different coloured gates around the outside. Players are paired up to play a series of 1v1s..
HOW TO PLAY
Each pair starts in the middle of the area. Blues score by dribbling through the blue gates and Reds score by dribbling through the red gates. The player who concedes restarts the game with the ball in the middle of the area..
