This useful passing sequence is an excellent and enjoyable way for your players to acquire the passing skills needed for effective linking play.
Passing sequences are a fun way to get young players accustomed to linking play and using the ball with good direction and weight. This helps with playing out from the back, counterattacking, and midfield possession.
Set up an area of 20x20 yards with cones on two corners and three corner flags a yard apart close to one of the other corners. We’ve used six players.
There is a player in each corner, while player 3 is closer in and opposite player 2 on the other side of the flags.
Play starts at player 1 who passes to player 2, who then performs one-twos through the poles with player 3 before passing to player 4.
Player 4 then makes a one-two with player 3 before dribbling the ball back to the start where a new player is now is position 1.
Player 4 then goes to the back of the queue and the sequence continues.
Start with slow passing so players can get used to the movement and then you should speed up the passing and movement.
Players should pass with good direction and weight.
