Triangle drill warm up
Soccer warm-up drills are very important for your players, but you need to make them fun, too.
Key soccer coaching tip: Tell your players they have to move left and right to get the ball past the defender in this drill.
A quick soccer warm up drill
If you want a quick way to warm up your players and improve basic ball control skills, this is one of the best drills to choose. This is a good drill to use whether your team is about to start their soccer coaching session or a match. You can set this up while you are putting up the nets or sorting out the team.
How to do it
- Using three cones, and four players, set up a triangle about 4m x4m x4m.
- One defender stands inside the triangle and he must intercept the ball to get out of the triangle.
- Three attackers on the sides of the triangle must keep passing the ball by feinting the pass or looking one way and passing the other – something to fool the defender.
- If they lose the ball, the players go inside the triangle.
TRY AN ALTERNATIVE WHERE THE PLAYER IN THE MIDDLE NEEDS TWO INTERCEPTIONS TO SCORE A POINT AND THE OUTSIDE PLAYERS NEED FOUR CONSECUTIVE PASSES TO SCORE. TIME THE DRILL FOR FIVE MINUTES.
