This session promotes the benefits of players finding space and being in position to receive passes. Use this session as a standalone activity, or combine it with two progressions to create a full session
Players will have to move so that they are in a position to receive a pass from the player in possession.
Four players are allocated to each area. Three players aim to keep possession, with the fourth acting as a defender. In the centre of each area is a triangle marked out by three cones.
The three players aiming to retain possession win a point, as individuals, if they successfully make or receive a where the ball is played through the triangle. If the defender wins the ball, they look to dribble out of the area and then change roles with the player who lost possession.
The players who do not have the ball need to constantly review their positioning, to ensure they are an option for their team-mate looking to play a pass. They need to consider the position of the ball, the defender and their team-mates and when any of these change. They need to make the decision whether they should move or remain where they are.
