This session promotes the benefits of players finding space and being in position to receive passes. Use this session as a standalone activity, or combine it with two progressions to create a full session

This practice increases makes movement off the ball and finding space challenging.
Set up a rectangular area, split into six separate zones. Each team has two players at each end of the area, acting as servers. The remaining four players are situated within the area, creating a 4v4. Players are not allowed to go into a zone where one of their team-mates is already situated.
To win a point, a team must transfer the ball from one server to the other without the other team touching it. At least one player within the area must touch the ball - it cannot go directly from one server to the other.
Progression: Again, limit the players to a maximum number of touches; two or three.
Again, players who do not have the ball need to constantly review their positioning. This time, not only are they looking to find a position where they can receive the ball, they are also looking to see if they can move to create space for a team-mate. If they exit their zone, does it allow a team-mate to enter it and receive the ball?
